Network Survivability - ESA
GENBAND’s G6 and G2 platforms offer integrated Emergency Stand Alone (ESA) switching capabilities that allow service providers to deploy NGN/IMS networks without sacrificing reliability and public safety. In the new network architectures, multiple Class 5/Local Exchanges and new broadband access equipment are often collapsed onto a remotely-located softswitch or IMS core, creating a critical need for ESA to ensure voice continuity and network survivability. Serving as ESA control points, the G6 and G2 assume call control when connections to the softswitch or IMS core are lost, and return call control when communications are resumed. Supports local calling, B911, and E911 over GR-303/TR-08/V5.2 DLCs, broadband access equipment such as BDLCs, IADs, ONTs, and MTAs.
- Eliminates service provider concerns of local outages in instances where connections to a distant softswitch/IMS core are disrupted
- Allows multiple Class 5/LE switches and broadband access to be consolidated onto a single softswitch or IMS platform while continuing to provide local calling, B911, and E911 during ESA conditions
- Provides ESA capabilities to both legacy (TDM) and broadband (IP) access platforms
- Open standards-based, hardened for outside plant (G2)
